Why comparing menus is misleading
In the Dominican Republic almost every menu shows prices before tax: 18% ITBIS and a 10% service charge are added when the bill arrives — 28% more. Ours already include it. A dish listed at 1,550 pesos elsewhere becomes 1,984 on the bill. Ours at 1,800 is still 1,800.
